Festive Free Car Parking in Neath, Port Talbot and Pontardawe Town Centres
Great News if you are planning to pop into Town centres in Neath Port Talbot to do some Christmas Shopping in December as you won’t have to rummage around for pennies as you will be able to park your car for FREE!
Members of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Streetscene and Engineering Cabinet Board took the decision motorists will not have to pay for parking at Pay and Display car parks in the town centre locations during the dates to help local residents and to give a boost to local businesses.
Free Christmas parking will be available in Neath, Port Talbot and Pontardawe town centres from Saturday 11th December 2021, until Saturday 1st January 2022.
This month Neath Port Talbot Council have acknowledged that our town centres and the traders who operate in them have been significantly affected during periods of lockdown with many being prevented from opening.
So, in a bid to support the town centre economies they have decided to provide free Christmas car parking in hope it will go some way to help the local economy’s recovery.
Signs will be placed at the relevant Pay and Display car parks informing drivers of the free offer over the Christmas and New Year period.
Car Parks that are NOT going to be included in this Free Car Parking is The Gnoll Estate Country Park, Aberavon Seafront and Afan Forest Park car parks.
The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Ted Latham, said: “Pontardawe, Port Talbot and Neath all offer a diverse range of shops, attractions and places to eat or drink, and I hope free parking this Christmas will encourage shoppers to buy locally and also tempt visitors to see for themselves what the county borough has to offer.”
