Which Names Entered the Top 20 in 2017?
There were four new entries into the top 20 most popular boys’ names in 2017 for Wales, which are Archie, Issac, Hari and Finley, which replaced Joshua, Joseph, James and Lucas from the top 20 in 2016. Oliver is the most popular boys name for the fifth year in a row, but its actually been in the top 5 boys names since 2008. Jacob has been in the top 5 most popular boys name since 2010 and Noah in the top 5 since 2014.
There were three new entries in the top 20 most popular girls’ names in 2017 in Wales, which are Aria, Willow and Phoebe, which replaced Charlotte, Seren and Erin from the top 20 in 2016. Olivia is the most popular girls name in Wales for he second year in a row, although it has been in the top 5 girls names since 2008. Amelia has been in the top 5 most popular girls name since 2010 and Ava in the top 5 since 2011.
