Rude Science in Carmarthen – A Hilarious & Gross Science Show

Rude Science Live is billed as the naughtiest, funniest and most revolting science show going, and it lands at the Lyric Theatre this summer. BBC Gastronaut Stefan Gates brings his high-tech, highly explosive show to Carmarthen, packed with outrageous stunts that turn biology, physics and chemistry into proper educational hilarity.

On the surface it is a riot of disgusting experiments, but underneath it is a clever, curriculum-driven adventure built to get kids genuinely hooked on science. Expect enormous bottoms, fart machines, snot cocktails, vast whoopee cushions, pee-powered fireworks and ear-wax-oozing mannequins. Gates is an award-winning presenter of 20 TV series and a STEM author of 12 books, so there is real substance behind all the noise and mess.

The show runs 1hr 40 including a 20-minute interval, with a free 45-minute meet-and-greet with Stefan afterwards. It is recommended for ages 6 and up. Younger ones are welcome, but there is a lot of loud, smelly, sensory stuff going on, so parents are the best judges there. Worth knowing before you go: the show involves strong smells, loud explosions (which are well signposted), stage smoke and latex balloons, so bear that in mind if anyone in the family is sensitive to any of those.

About the Venue

The Lyric is a traditional art-deco theatre seating 593, right in the centre of Carmarthen on King Street, within walking distance of car parks, the bus station and the train station. There is a kiosk on the ground floor opposite the box office for drinks and snacks, usually open an hour before the show, plus a first-floor bar with lift and stair access. Accessible toilets are on the ground floor and first floor. For parking, St Peters car park is just a minute’s walk away.

Tickets and Booking
