Summer of Play at Llanerchaeron

Llanerchaeron is pulling out all the stops this summer with Summer of Play at Llanerchaeron, a free programme of daily family activities running throughout the school holidays at this stunning Georgian estate in Ceredigion.

Children can zoom around on balance bikes, follow the summer tree trail around the gardens and meet the farmyard animals, including a brand new play tractor to clamber on. The Stables playroom has ping pong, table football, colouring and dominoes for when little legs need a rest. Conti’s Café is on site for refreshments and makes a lovely end to the day. Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank.

About Llanerchaeron

Llanerchaeron is an elegant Georgian villa designed by architect John Nash in 1790, set within a walled garden, farmyard, lake and wild parkland that has remained remarkably unaltered for over 200 years. It is one of the most complete examples of a self-sufficient Welsh gentry estate in existence, and there is plenty to explore beyond the Summer of Play activities. Step inside the Lewes family home, wander the walled garden that has been growing fruit and vegetables for over two centuries, and take the waymarked paths through parkland surrounding the River Aeron, which is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Getting there is easiest by car, with parking available on site. If you fancy arriving on foot or by bike, the Allt y Graig Woodland Trail is a lovely 2.5 mile path along an old railway line from Aberaeron to Llanerchaeron. Dogs on leads are welcome in the walled gardens, lake, pleasure grounds, farmyard, car park, Visitor Centre and café, though not inside the Villa. There is also a plant shop and a second-hand bookshop in the Visitor Centre worth a look.

Tickets and Admission

Summer of Play activities are free, though normal venue admission applies. Adults are £12.10, children aged 5 to 17 are £6.10 and under 5s are free. A family ticket for two adults and up to two children is £30.30, or £18.20 for one adult and up to three children. Car parking is £4. It is worth checking the National Trust website before visiting for the latest information.
