St David’s Cathedral, Pembrokeshire

St David’s Cathedral is a beautiful cathedral founded by St David, Abbot of Menevia, visited my thousands and an important part of West Wales history.

Since the 6th century there has been a church on this site and for the past 1500 years prayer and worship has taken place daily which continues to this day and during the summer there are regular guided tours.

Some of the places you can enjoy visiting here include:

  • The nave is the oldest surviving part of the cathedral and a stunning place to visit.
  • The St Thomas Chapel and the Lady Chapel are both reserved for prayer and quiet.
  • The Cathedral Bookshop stocks a wide range of books, music and gifts.  The Domus Giftshop specialising in Welsh and Celtic crafts and books.
  • The Treasury is part of the Cloisters and houses the Cathedral’s treasures, such as the crosiers and rings of medieval bishops, illuminated manuscripts, textiles and silverware.
  • The Refectory is in St Mary’s Hall and has a mezzanine with breath taking views over the Cathedral and its gardens and is where you can get tea, coffee and some delicious home-made food made from local ingredients.

Throughout the year St David’s Cathedral hosts free family activities, which we list on our What’s On Page, so keep an eye out for these.
