The annual awards reflecting high-quality beaches have been announced for 2021 and Wales has received 46 Blue Flags in total, with 23 of them in West Wales.
The Blue Flag, is a world-renowned eco-label trusted by millions around the globe, with 4,820 award-winning sites in 49 countries. Awarded for the coastal environment, water quality, safety and access for all, the Blue Flag represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment and is a highly prestigious award to receive.
The Welsh coastline continues to shine when it comes to clean beaches, boasting more Blue Flags than any other stretch of UK coast.
The number of Blue Flags in Wales soared to 47 in 2018, 44 Blue Flags in 2019, 43 in 2020 and there are 46 flying in Wales now in 2021, with 43 beaches, three marinas. This means Wales has more Blue Flags per mile than anywhere else in the UK.
