If you’re a parent of a child that is starting secondary school this September 2018, you need to apply for transport now.
If you think your child might be entitled to free transport and they are starting secondary school this September then it is as matter of urgency that you submit your application now.
Carmarthenshire Council has released a statement saying that “The number of applications already received is lower than expected, particularly for those going to school outside of Carmarthenshire. Anyone who leaves it too late could find that there is no transport in place for them when they start in the new school in September, and have to wait whilst extra capacity is arranged, which can take weeks.”
The other thing parents are warned of, is if they leave it too late they may find that the bus nearest to their home is already full and that their child will have to travel to another bus route which is further away from their address.
It’s worth thinking about the fact that your application maybe refused and you end up going through the referral process, so if this isn’t done soon you might miss the start of the new academic year.
