Well, it’s been confirmed by Neath Port Talbot Council that the Neath Fair will not go ahead as planned this year and once again is being cancelled, now until 2022.
The iconic Neath September Fair is a Historic Open-Air Event situated in the centre of Neath and attracts visitors from far and wide and it has been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
This annual event has been taking place for many hundreds of years and is a huge favourite with local families.
Made up of three main events, the fun fair, the street fair and horse fair. it has been a well-loved Autumn event of Neath for years until the recent Covid pandemic put a stop to it going ahead in 2020.
The decision to cancel the 2021 Neath Fair is after many other major events around Britain have been cancelled, due to the continuing uncertainty about UK and Welsh Government’s ability to give the green light for very large spectator events over the summer and autumn this year.
Loads of traders from all around the UK and Europe usually flock to Neath for the event, which is recognised as the fourth largest Chartered Street Trading Fair in the UK, but due to the amount of forward planning that needs to go into this event, its important to confirm now that this year yet again it’s not going to be possible to hold it.
A Neath Port Talbot Council spokeswoman has made the following statement: “We realise the disappointment not having a Neath Fair 2021 will cause.”
“But because of the uncertainty of what public safety restrictions may still be in place in September and the need for making meticulous forward plans for such an event it will be impossible to organise a safe and successful fair this year but we hope Neath Fair will be around for future years for many generations to enjoy.”
