The kids are going to enjoy this new Sticker book from Panini this Summer as they plan to launch a new Tour de France Sticker Album, coinciding with the famous yellow jersey turning 100 this year.
Panini are the King’s of Sticker Albums and kids love spending their pocket money on filling them with all the stickers and swapping doubles with their friends and this summer the race will be on to complete the first ever Tour de France Sticker Album.
This New Tour de France Sticker Album to be released by Panini been reported by French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche, which revealed promotional posters with a picture of defending champion Geraint Thomas and the Champs-Elysées from the release in Paris.
Further information about the UK release is expected later this month, however Welsh Fan will be glad to know that it’s expected that the Tour de France Sticker Album won’t just be available in France.
The Sticker packs will be yellow and printed with the logo of the race on them and to contain 5 stickers in each pack.
This Sticker Album is thought to be a nod to the celebration of the centenary of the Tour de France famous yellow jersey, first worn by Eugéne Christophe on 19th July in 1919. He defended his race leading over a 333km mountainous stage between Nice and Grenoble and was presented with a yellow jersey by race organiser so to make him more visible while racing.
The yellow jersey colour was inspired by the colour that organising newspaper l’Auto was printed on at the time.
Panini have previously released a cycling-specific Sprint sticker book collection in the 1970s, based around professional cycling and was relaunched in 2009. They also have produced a Giro d’Italia sticker book, but this was exclusive to just Italy. So, fingers crossed this Tour de France Sticker Album will continue longer and the kids can enjoy swapping doubles of Geraint in the playground!
