Pembrokeshire Family Day Out in Around Half a Million Sunflowers

For the first year a local Pembrokeshire farm has planted more than 400,000 sunflowers and this August and September your family can enjoy them.

Born from a lockdown project of clearing some corners of their arable farm which were not suitable for conventional crops, the owners of Pembrokeshire Sunflowers back in May planted about seven acres full with a mix of sunflower varieties including sunburst, ring of fire and sunspot.

Now this summer families can visit and get closer to nature as they enjoy the amazing instagramable fields of gold, picturesque countryside and distant sea views.

Blooming Great for Nature

Sunflowers have a huge benefit to local wildlife as it provides a valuable food source for birds, bees and insects.

But it’s not just Sunflowers you and the kids can enjoy during your visit here as you can also walk through the wildflower meadow. The wildflowers were grown purposely to increase the amount of flora and fauna on the farm. It has increased the number of butterflies and bees and for the first time they have some hives this year.

Noticeably more wildlife is thriving on this farm especially more hedgehogs and they even have a pair of red kites nesting now, so plenty for the kids to see on your visit.

Family Friendly Flower Fun

Pembrokeshire Sunflowers offers a fab family friendly day out with the kids as they are set in the beautiful countryside kids can run free in the great outdoors. Obviously is it a farm setting so be sure to make sure everyone wears some practical footwear.

There is parking on site, toilet facilities and plenty of open space to enjoy a picnic in, although some light refreshments will be available to buy if you would rather. There is even a woodland play area and other fun things to entertain the kids.
