REVIEW: Cert Hospital Grade Cleaning Product for Your Family Home
Parents are always on the lookout for the best ways to keep their family home clean and hygienically safe. So, following years of using Cert which is hospital grade hygiene for the home that kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, we just had to share out honest thoughts with our readers.
When your home is full of kids and pets it can be hard to keep on top of the mess, but the fact is after you step over the piles of shoes, random clothes and toys on the floor you will see we are rather pernickety about keeping our home hygienically cleaning our hand I think that does stem from having pets that bring in all kinds of dirt and germs from outdoors onto the floors we have kids crawling all over, so it’s just something that has evolved since becoming parents.
The cupboard underneath of our sink was evidence to this, as it was home to a vast collection of cleaning products for various surfaces and cleaning needs, actually it was pretty messy as well, cause every time you open the door bottles and sponges would always fall out! But that aside the point we make is we are an intrepid explorer of household cleaning products.
Hence, why when we were sent the New Cert Cleaning Product in return for us sharing with you our honest thoughts about it, we were all in, especially amidst a time when everywhere you look, you seem to come across people with colds, flu’s, covid-19 and other viruses.
So, let’s tell you everything we have learnt about Cert and how we rate it as a cleaning product.
What is Cert
Cert is a Hospital Grade Cleaning Product that you can now use in your Home. It is a powerful, simple to use disinfectant and all purpose cleaner that kills 99.99% of all viruses, bacteria and microorganisms.
Cert is manufactured by Hydrachem, who are very well known for their extreme cleaning know how. They have been around for 50 years and manufacture 90% of our NHS’s disinfection treatments and products, as well as provide water purification tablets and baby bottle sterilising tablets to over 60 countries.
By using all their years of knowledge, experience and research from Hydrachem this Cert Cleaning product has been created to deliver an antiviral formula that families can safely use to disinfect their homes, giving a whole other level of hygiene peace of mind.
Cert is basically a cleaning tablet that is manufactured here in the UK and is a detergent and disinfectant in one that you simply dissolve in tap water to use.
2022’s Trio of Improvements to Cert.
After using Cert for nearly two years its was fab to see the launch of Cert. V2 which has three main changes.
One improvement is a change to the tablet packaging so, instead of being housed in plastic tubes its now in 100% plastic-free packaging. However, the tablets now come sealed in foil-lined casing inside a cardboard box, this keeps them safe and protected whilst still allowing them to have a long shelf life.
Second improvement is Cert. is now active against covid and other viruses for 7 days (previously 48 hours) which is a significant increase for those who are serious about keeping their solution at full strength.
Third improvement it the tablets are now smaller so they can be safely mixed in 250ml bottles of water, rather than 500ml.
How to Use Cert
The Cert Cleaning Tablets are super easy to use and as they come with a Cert Spray bottle or Mop bottle you cannot get the mixture of cleaner wrong.
To use all you do is fill the Cert Spray bottle or Spray mop water bottle up to the top of water, then drop one Cert cleaning tablet into the water and wait for it to dissolve, which only takes a few minutes.
You can give the bottle a little shake to help the particles dissolve and once all the particles have disappeared and the water is clear your cleaning solution is ready to use.
Cert both cleans and disinfects so there is no need to use an additional cleaning product alongside it, you can use it to spray and wipe down food or debris of surfaces, then spray and leave the solution sit for 5 minutes after this it is fine to leave it to dry on the surface, unless on like a chopping board you would want to rise it off after the five minutes.
Cert is not designed for really dirty surfaces that are covered in greasy fat or oil, you will need to use something additional in those instances.
Thing that is important to remember is once you have dissolved a tablet in water, the active ingredient in the solution only lasts for 7 days, before its efficacy starts to drop. At this stage you can pour any unused solution down the toilet. The shelf life of undissolved tablets is great as its 3 to 5 years, the exact expiry dates are on the packet.
Cert Takes the Guess Work out of Cleaning
Something we found rather refreshing is that all the maths is already done for you when it comes to using Cert. They give you the tablet with all measurements of chlorine done for you and they give you the right size spray bottle to use, so you basically can’t go wrong meaning you are always using the correct solution strength to remove all the germs and bacteria around your home.
The added bonus is this clever way that Cert ensures you use the correct dosage every time, means that when cleaning your home for your family you are meeting the same recommended formula that is the exact same diluted formula that’s being used by our NHS and hospitals around the world.
What Surfaces in your Home can you Use Cert on?
Like any new cleaning product we buy, we always test it in a hidden area before going mental with it, just in case it does cause damage to the surface we are cleaning, so it goes without saying we would suggest you do the same with this Cert product.
That being said we have found that Cert can be used on pretty much all our normal surfaces we clean around our home such as:
- Ceramic and Stainless Steel Sinks
- Kitchen and Bathroom wall and floor Tiles
- Bath and Jacuzzi Jets
- Toilet pan and seats
- Wooden surfaces, we have a dark Walnut solid butcher block style Kitchen Worktop and Cert has not caused any staining or damage at all to this.
- High gloss kitchen cupboard doors
- Glass and mirror surfaces
- Floor, both vinyl and wooden
Benefits to Cleaning with Cert
You will have noticed that the cleaning aisles in supermarkets are growing with more and more refillable cleaning products, which is fab for the impact on the planet, but something which is a big difference between Cert. and most of the new eco-friendly cleaning products, is that Cert. kills viruses.
The truth is, most antibacs are brilliant at destroying bacteria, because bacteria needs a much lower strength disinfectant, but they don’t destroy viruses because viruses need a stronger dose. So the fact is if you’re wishing to kill Covid-19, Flu and other viruses on surfaces, most of the eco-friendly products on the market simply won’t do the job.
Cert. is unique product in that it’s a refill an reuse system which reduces plastic and is much friendlier on the planet, but its also strong enough to actually destroy both bacteria and viruses. Not many products can do both at the same times as keeping a near-neutral pH level and its this that makes it very safe to use on surfaces, skin and around pets. Its like best of both worlds.
For us I think we saw the biggest benefits came when we compared it to normal liquid bleach. Liquid bleach we find is quite difficult to dilute to get the right level of chlorine to clean efficiently, however Cert dissolving tablets totally takes this problem away.
Liquid bleach comes with loads of warnings about its harmful effects on your skin, eyes and surfaces and this is something you don’t have to worry about with Cert dissolving tablets. This is because neat liquid bleach has pH of up to 13 which is why it is so corrosive, and damages surfaces and why you always should wear gloves when using it.
Cert cleaning product is different, It’s non-corrosive and non-hazardous. The tablets have a pH level of 6, and once dissolved in water it is almost pH neutral. Making it totally safe to handle without gloves in both tablet and liquid form. Of course, the other huge benefit is that it can kill 99.99% of viruses, microorganisms, pathogens and household germs and that it is perfectly safe to use around animals.
Can Cert Destroy Covid-19 Virus?
Yes it can….. Hydrachem are a world leading manufacturer of chlorine based products for disinfection and water purification and are accredited by the British Retail Consortium. In addition to this they have now turned their attention to keeping us safe in our homes with Cert Cleaning Products.
This Cert antiviral formula has been tested and proven to kill SARS-COV-2 Virus which causes Covid-19 in 60 seconds which is why it has been called “The COVID-19 Destroyer” by a leading virologist.
What Other Viruses Can Cert Kill in 60 Seconds?
Public Health England states in order to kill viruses you need “a combined detergent disinfectant solution at a dilution of 1,000 parts per million available chlorine (ppm av.cl.)” and Cert dissolving tablets along with the bottle means you use this exact dilution stated.
This Cert solution is so powerful that can work on all different surfaces and in 60 seconds it can kill 99.99% of all microorganisms, germs and bacteria including all these viruses:
- Blood Viruses – Filoviridae, Flavirius, Herpesviridae, Hepatitis B Virus, Hepatitis C Virus, Hepatitis Delta Virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Human T C Leukemia Virus
- Respiratory Tract Viruses – Coronavirus, Herpesviridae, Influenza Virus, Paramyxoviridae, Rubella Virus
- Neural Tissue, Eye, Ear and Nose viruses – Herpesviridae, Measles Virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Rabies Virus, Rubella Virus
- Skin, Breast and Milk Viruses – Herpesviridae, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Human T C Leukemia Virus, Poxviridae
How Cert can Also Save you Money
As we mentioned, we have fallen into the trap like many, of buying loads of different products for different cleaning tasks and are a sucker for storing heaps of half used bottles.
Yet the thing is by using Cert you can actually get away with not having loads of different cleaning products, as it can clean and disinfect in a gentle way meaning you can use it on lots of different surfaces, in turning saving you money as you only have to buy one cleaning product for many different tasks.
Along with this, we think it works out as great value for money as it cost £6.99 for 32 tablets which makes either 16 x 500ml bottles or 32 x 250ml bottles, which mean you are getting 8 litres of cleaning product for around 87p per litre, which is cheaper than a lot of other brands we tend to use.
Not forgetting the fact that you are re-using the spray bottle and mop bottle, so you are saving in waste and the fact that you must discard any dissolved solution after 7 days means it also saves you being overrun by half empty bottles of cleaning products to store.
Would we Recommend Cert for Families to Use?
Quite honestly, we think Cert is the way forward for home cleaning. To be able to clean your family home with one solution that is both a detergent and a high strength disinfectant and to provide protection to a hospital grade within your own home, in a simple and safe way, is just genius.
We have found it so easy to mix and use Cert, all contained in a one bottle there is no confusion to mixing the correct ratios.
Previously when we have used liquid bleach, we mostly always failed and ended up bleaching clothes and fabrics, but we don’t need to worry about this with Cert as it is not corrosive and so far we have managed to not discoloured any clothing or surfaces.
Smell wise we have to say there is a chlorine smell, so it’s definitely not odourless. It’s not an overpowering smell, in that we managed to spend a good hour solid cleaning down our kitchen worktops, cupboard doors, sink and floors, without it being over powering. Though at this point we could not have continued to say go clean the bathroom, as we definitely had had our fill of the swimming pool smell, but for sure it is less poignant that many other cleaners we have used and it 100% did not get to our eyes or dry out our hands and we most definitely did not have a headache after cleaning which has happened to us in the past when we have spent along time using bleach cleaning products.
The spray bottle comes with a neat on off switch on the spray part, so you can’t accidentally spray the solution and the bottle is of a good quality, although we are very mindful when using it that we need to reuse it, so have found that we chucked the bottle around less, which we are guilty of doing with other spray bottles.
Don’t forget though this is still a cleaning product and needs to be kept away from children, so make sure to take advance of the safety on off button on the bottle.
Previously we found the whole 48 hours usage window a big drawback as we struggled to remember when we dissolved it, but now that it is 7 days it’s way easier as we can just change it the same day every week.
All in all, though we can’t find fault in the product, it cleans really well, our stainless steel on microwave, oven and sink are crazy shinny as is our black induction hob. Then on top of the cleanliness to have that knowledge that the germs you can’t see have all been eradicated too just really lifts a lot of stress from us.
Without hesitation we would recommend Cert Cleaning products to other families to try for themselves. At the moment you can only really order it online direct from the company’s own Cert Cleaning Website but wouldn’t be surprised if as these products grow in popularity they will become available to buy in many more places.
