REVIEW: Plus Plus One Shape Toy

If you’re looking for some creative screen free fun for the kids over the school holidays, this award-winning Danish one shape toy Plus Plus could fill the gap, read our review to learn more about this clever toy.

This Easter school holidays we were sent some tubes of Plus Plus themed sets to enjoy some creative fun with the kids with, in return for us sharing our honest thoughts with our readers and if we think it is worth adding to your family’s toy collection.

What is Plus Plus

Basic and Neon Plus Plus

Developed in the 80’s in Denmark this simplistic toy was hoped to spark the imagination and creativity of children of all ages. Fast forward to today and Plus-Plus is now an internationally recognisable toy brand, that’s won awards for how good it is.

Plus-Plus is a collection of colourful 6-sided pieces that you can slot together to create puzzles, 2D or 3D mosaics and pretty art.

Made from plastic each piece is solid and easy to put together, with only your imagination limiting the possibilities to what you can build.

The pieces themselves come in two different sizes to suit younger builders and are available in lots of different colours within box, tubes, travel cases and storage box sets.

Building Your Own Plus Plus

Plus-Plus has a unique one shape design, that interlock with other Plus Plus identically shaped pieces, which means its super easy to mix and match any Plus-Plus set with each other.

Some of the Plus-Plus sets come with cool inspiring building guides to get you started, they are great for encouraging open play and getting the creative ideas flowing. There are also themed play sets like the ones we have been building with, they also come with building instructions.

However, Plus Plus also come in open-play sets that don’t come with building instructions and are the most popular option of sets that’s available.

We had fun playing with some tube sets aimed at kids 5 – 12 years old. The basic and neon tubes are some of the popular open-play sets, each with 100 pieces in them.

Then we had sets that all again aimed at kids 5 -12 each with 100 pieces in them but include step by step guide so you can build either a Mecha Bot, Chick, Princess and Airplane, all of course can be then used to create your own design letting your imagination run wild.

Would we Recommend Plus Plus to Your Family?

Plus Plus built all four

Plus-Plus comes in so many different bright colours and brings a fantastic mix of science, tech, mathematics, and engineering (STEM) to your child’s playtime. Perfect for developing your little one’s fine motor skills, logic, creativity, and imagination we think Plus Plus is a brilliant way to get the kids off the screens and playing together as a family for hours as this is a toy that’s fun for all ages.

All the kids really enjoyed slotting together the pieces to watch vibrant coloured patterns and shapes develop as they play. We found it very impressive how just one shape can provide endless possibilities. With the sets that came with step by step guides most were ok to follow, however some were a bit hard to work out, we got there in the end but think improvements could for sure be made to them making them better.

As a company we love how the Plus-Plus factory and headquarters uses 100% green energy from wind power. That all pieces are produced from food approved PE and from high quality BPA-free and phthalate-free plastic, with everything including the packaging being 100% recyclable.

We love how perfect these Plus Plus sets are for taking on your travels, especially these tubes they are so handy to pop in the bag for in the car on road trips, as a bit of entertainment in restaurants whilst waiting for food or pushed in the sleeping bag for camping trips. We would totally recommend these Plus Plus sets to families to check out.
