New Play Parks Open in time for Bank Holiday Weekend in Carmarthenshire

We are Lucky to have not one but two new Play Parks for the Kids open in time for this May Bank Holiday Weekend in Carmarthenshire

One of them is the new playground at Llyn Llech Owain Country Park in Gorslas. Situated near the park’s entrance, the play area, has incorporated the theme of the legend of Llyn Llech Owain and it was officially opened on Friday 4th May. It has more than 40 play features, attractions including a castle fortress, see saw, slides, swings and is all based around the theme of knights. Carmarthenshire County Council has invested more than £70,000 on refurbishing the area, after the former playground was closed due to health and safety issues.

Llyn Llech Owain Country Park is set in 158 acres of woods boasting nature trails and a lake in the centre. Specially constructed paths allow safe access over the bog and around the lake and is a perfect location for a Family Walk and very popular with Dog Walkers.

The legend has it that Owain Lawgoch was entrusted to look after a well on the mountain Mynydd Mawr. Each day, after extracting enough water for himself and his horse, Owain was careful to replace the stone but once forgot and water poured down the side of the mountain and resulting in the lake which is named Llyn Llech Owain – the lake of Owain’s slab.

Don’t forget its FREE to enter the Park, although there is a pay and display car park and there is also a café, toilets and observation stations here.
