Before you put in an application for a place at a primary school it’s a really good idea to contact the school you are thinking of sending your child to, have a chat with the them and visit the school. Talking to the teachers and head teacher is a great way to give you confidence that you are making the best choice for your child. Don’t forget even if you have spoke with the school and they have told you that there are places until you’ve made an application and had confirmation from your local council (or school if a faith school) that your child has been accepted they cannot start school.

At the age of 4 years old your child is eligible to attend primary school full time; however, you do not have to send your children to school until they are 5 years old although a lot of parents fell that by starting them at 4 is more beneficial for the child.
