Aberystwyth Cycle Festival

Aberystwyth Cycle Festival is a celebration of cycling, includes town centre criterium racing, downhill mountain biking and a mass participation ride, covering all the best roads in Ceredigion.

Aberystwyth Cycle Festival course brings you the thrills of town centre cycle races all afternoon and evening on the 25th May.

With some of Britain’s top cyclists making a rare appearance in Wales, festival visitors can watch all the on and off road action and also experience the beautiful and undiscovered lanes of Ceredigion on their own bikes.


Stages Include


Audax on Saturday 18th May 2019

A 212km Cycling event staring from Aberystwyth, controls at Crossgates, Newtown and Tywyn from 7am until 9pm starting from Afan Ability, GlanyrAfon Industrial Estate, SY23 3JQ


Breeze Ride Saturday 18th May 2019

Women’s Cycling from 10am until 1pm starting from Outside Halfords, Parc-y-Llyn Retails Park, Aberystwyth, SY23 3TL


Summit Cycles Mountain Biking Day Sunday 19th May 2019

At Nant Y Arian from 10am until 6pm


Film and Q & A Evening Tuesday 21st May 2019

In the Drwm Auditorium at National Library of Wales from 6pm until 9.30pm


Ystwyth 10 mile Time Trial Wednesday 22nd May 2019

At Cwm Rheidol from 7pm until 8.30pm


BMX Display and Skills Workshop Thursday 23rd May 2019

At Parc Kronberg, Boulevard St Breuic from 6pm until 8pm


Downhill MTB Saturday 25th May 2019

Conquer the Cliff, Starting from Constitution Hill from 10am until 5pm


Criteriums Saturday 25th May 2019

Welsh Criterium Championships and Support Races starting at Seafront Promenade from 10am until 8.45pm


Sportive Sunday 26th May 2019

Cycling in the Welsh Wild West, Starting at Aberystwyth Bandstand and running from 8am until 4pm


Family Ride Monday 27th May 2019

Hosted by Sustrans this is a safe, guided ride for families starting at The harbour end of the Prom at the Lifeboat station from 10am until 11.30am


Road Closures in Aberystwyth

There will be some roads closed for this event as follows:

  • From 8am on 24th May until 6am on 26th May 2019
    Sea View Place, St Michael’s Place, Upper Great Darkgate Street, Vulcan Street, St James’ Square, Laura Place, Castle Street, Eastgate.
  • From just after midnight on 25th May morning until 6am on 26th May 2019
    New Promenade, South Road, Laura Place, King Street, New Street, Castle Street, Penmaesglas Road, Custom House Street
  • From 3am on 25th May until 6am on 26thMay 2019
    Pier Street, Marine Terrace, Bridge Street and Great Darkgate Street
  • From just after midnight on 25th May morning until 8pm on the same day
    Victoria Terrace
  • From 8am until 4pm on 25th May 2019
    Cefnllan, Llanbadarn Fawr
