This February Half Term, whisk your family away to the National Botanic Garden of Wales for a week brimming with nature-inspired activities. It’s the perfect spot for a fun, educational, and memorable day out, surrounded by the beauty and tranquillity of nature.

The Botanic Garden becomes a hub of creativity and exploration during half term, with a host of spring-inspired arts and crafts waiting to entertain the young and the young at heart. These crafty activities are centred around The Hwb – Theatr Botanica (spot No 17 on your Garden map), offering a cozy nook for families to get creative together.

But the fun doesn’t end with arts and crafts. The Botanic Garden invites you to explore its vast expanse and discover its many treasures. The British Bird of Prey Centre is a must-visit, where you can learn about the majestic birds that call the garden home – admission is free for all visitors, and you won’t want to miss the spectacular flying display at 1pm daily (though this does come with an additional charge). For those wanting a closer encounter, the daily Group Experiences offer the chance to fly an Owl or a Red Kite, suitable for all ages and abilities, with no need to pre-book – just turn up and dive into the fun (£10).

Take a stroll through the magical, deep, dark wood and marvel at the hand-crafted carvings of the Gruffalo characters; it’s like stepping into a beloved children’s book. Adventure awaits in the Great Glasshouse, where winding paths lead you through a world of plants from every corner of the globe. Meanwhile, the Tropical House offers a taste of the jungle, right here in Wales.

Don’t forget to pick up a nature trail leaflet from the information table in the Great Glasshouse to enhance your exploration, or plan ahead and find them online. And for the little adventurers, the children’s playground, complete with a mini zip wire, promises endless fun.

To top it all off, the Botanic Garden offers a special seven-day ‘boomerang’ ticket, allowing you to return as many times as you like within seven days after your initial visit. It’s the perfect excuse to head back and experience everything you might have missed or simply to revisit your favourite spots.

Don’t let this Half Term pass by without a visit to the Botanic Garden for a day (or days) filled with discovery, learning, and fun. And if you’re keen not to forget this fantastic family outing, make sure to click the ‘add to calendar’ button at the top of the page.
