This Christmas, the National Botanic Garden of Wales invites you and your family to a truly unique festive experience – “Meet Santa and the Owls”. This magical event combines the joy of meeting Santa Claus with the fascination of close encounters with majestic owls, all set in the picturesque surroundings of the National Botanic Garden.

At the Birds of Prey Centre within the Garden, you’ll step into a wondrous world where Santa and his feathered friends, the owls, eagerly await to greet you. Imagine the thrill and delight in your children’s eyes as they meet Santa and marvel at the beautiful owls, making for an unforgettable festive outing.

Your adventure doesn’t stop there. With your ticket, you gain unlimited access to visit the birds in their aviaries and enjoy the spectacular 1pm flying display. Add to that a host of arts and crafts activities at the Bird of Prey Centre, and you have a perfect blend of education and entertainment. When you book, you’ll be allocated an hour time slot to see Santa. Be sure to be at the bird of prey centre at this time, and an elf will guide you to your magical meeting with Santa.

For those intrigued to know Sion Corn, will be more than happy to speak to your little ones in Welsh, making this a bilingual experience for your family. While your Santa booking time slot is one hour, it’s not the exact moment you’ll meet Santa. This system ensures a relaxed and enjoyable experience, with plenty of activities around the Grotto to keep everyone entertained while waiting.

The unique pricing system is thoughtfully designed to include older siblings and babies in the Grotto experience without extra cost for the ‘Santa Experience’. However, if your child wishes to meet Santa, be sure to purchase a Santa ticket.

Besides meeting Santa and the owls, you’re welcome to stay as long as you like to enjoy the flying show and free craft activities in the Education and Conservation Centre. Feel free to explore other areas of the Garden and return to the Centre later, as there’s plenty to see and do in the Christmas Courtyard.

Tickets to visit Santa in his grotto are required in advance at £7.50 per child, with accompanying adults free. Alongside this, you can also meet Fudge the giant owl, and for an additional £2.50, you can even hold a real owl!
