Join us at Dale Fort Field Centre for a program of activities this October half term and if your child attends for the full 4 days they will achieve the John Muir Discovery Award.
10am until 1pm – Fort Orienteering and Team Games
Explore Dale Fort with our Orienteering challenge and test out your communications skills and as you complete a variety of team games
1pm until 4pm – Rocky Shore Safari
Explore the inhabitants of our local rocky shore, see what we can find under seaweed and in a rockpool. Learn about this amazing environment and how the creatures are adapted to live there
10am until 1pm – Minibeast Safari and Bug Hotel Making
Explore the woods and grasslands of the Dale Fort Peninsula while on your search for minibeasts. Leave no log or stone unturned in your quest to find as many different species as possible! Make your own bug hotel to take home.
1pm until 4pm – Wild Art
Explore our ground / local beach for washed up treasures, be inspired by the local surroundings and use natural resources to create your own holiday inspired masterpiece
10am until 4pm – Mammal and moth trapping
Discover what has been out at night in our centre grounds by opening up our moth trap and small mammal traps. Make your own butterfly feeder to encourage them into your garden!
1pm until 4pm – Map Skills
Develop your map skills and then try to navigate your way around the village, to uncover the secret code word and hopefully find the buried treasure
10am until 1pm – Bushcraft
Try your hand at shelter building and fire lighting, as we practice our survival skills in the woods.
1pm until 4pm – Halloween Spooktacular
Join us for a bat talk, a walk through our spooky woods and a Halloween themed craft session. We’ll finish up with a group apple bobbing session
Activities are open to children aged 7 and upwards.
Parent supervision is not required.
Please bring appropriate clothes for outdoor play. If staying for the full day, please bring a packed lunch.
All sessions will be run by staff from the education team at FSC Dale Fort.
