This enchanting Welsh language production, scheduled for 16th and 17th June, invites audiences to join Byrti and Bwbw on their whimsical moon-polishing adventure. However, Pwnîc’s warnings add a layer of intrigue: what happens if the moon is polished too much? The story unfolds with a touch of magic, captivating children and new Welsh speakers alike.

This production, written by the acclaimed Caryl Lewis and directed by Ffion Wyn Bowen, is tailored for children aged 3-7, making it an ideal outing for young families. It also serves as a fantastic resource for those learning Welsh, offering a gentle and engaging introduction to the language. To further support new Welsh speakers, a synopsis and vocabulary pack will be available.

Caryl Lewis, the creative mind behind “Sgleinio’r Lleuad,” is a renowned author hailing from Dihewyd near Aberaeron. Her literary journey began at Durham University, followed by a higher degree in writing at Aberystwyth University. Lewis’s impressive portfolio includes award-winning works such as ‘Iawn Boi?’ which won the Tir na n-Og award in 2004, and ‘Martha Jac a Sianco,’ named Book of the Year 2005. Her recent children’s books, including ‘Seed,’ ‘Mari a Mrs Cloch,’ and ‘The Magician’s Daughter,’ demonstrate her continued dedication to children’s literature, with her winning the Wales Book of the Year Award in 2023.

Tickets for this event at the Lyric are priced at £10 for full admission, and £8 for those under 18. The production promises a fun and engaging experience for all ages, making it a wonderful way to introduce children to the magic of theatre and the beauty of the Welsh language.
