As the daffodils start to bloom and the days grow longer, what better way to spend a sunny day this Easter School Holidays than heading down to the Spring Steam Rally at Pembrey Country Park. This event promises a splendid outing for families looking for an adventure amidst the beauty of West Wales. Imagine the delight on the kids’ faces as they see all the majestic steam engines chuffing along, with the chance to ride on miniature railway trains throughout the day. It’s not just any event; it’s a journey back in time to the golden age of steam, all set in the stunning landscape of Pembrey Country Park.

The rally is a celebration of steam power, featuring Traction Engines and Steam hauled passenger Trains. These magnificent machines will be in full steam on both days of the event, showcasing the marvels of engineering from bygone days. The members of Llanelli and District Model Engineers are the stars of the show, presenting both their own creations and the club’s Locomotives and Road Vehicles to kick off the 2024 season. It’s a fantastic opportunity to chat with the engineers, learn about the mechanics of steam power, and maybe even ignite a passion for engineering in the younger family members.

Steam hauled passenger trains will be running between 12pm and 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday, offering rides at just £1.50 per person. It’s an affordable way to add a sprinkle of excitement to your family’s weekend. While there’s no charge to attend the rally itself, do remember that the usual park entry charges still apply. So, pack a picnic, grab a warm jumper just in case, and plan to spend the day exploring the park’s many attractions after enjoying the rally.
