As part of the Cadw Open Doors this year Carmarthenshire Museum and Bishops Park will be offering visitors free entry to explore.
Set in the Tywi valley, Carmarthenshire Museum, with its fantastic collections, lives in the former palace and home of the bishops of St.Davids. The palace was rebuilt in Art and Crafts style by the architect W.D. Caroe following a fire in 1903. The surrounding Bishops Park is now the subject of an HLF-funded project which will restore its mid 19th-century splendour. For Open Doors, there will be an opportunity to see the kitchen walled garden at this early stage of the project.
The museum will be providing talks, peeks at the rare books collection and, outside, there will be a children's craft session with a World War one theme. The kitchen walled garden will be open but it is not yet fully accessible. The restoration project would also welcome feedback from visitors about its plans for the Bishops Park.
Some activities may require booking, you can book via emailing.
