- End Date: 30-09-2018
As part of the Cadw Open Doors this year Laugharne Congregational Church ('The Chapel') will be offering visitors free entry to explore.
The Chapel was built in the late 19th century. Doors to each side of the foyer provide entrance to the sanctuary, which has a good sized seating area of beautiful wooden pews separated into sections by two side aisles. The tall windows allow plenty of natural light to enter in day-time and the acoustics of the building are excellent, hence its use for choir rehearsals and concerts. There is a balcony at the back featuring a beautiful rose window, whilst the pulpit occupies a central place on the raised platform at the front, with the communion table positioned below it.
The Chapel is home to Laugharne Congregational Church and also hosts the Corran singers. There will be a display looking at the past, present and future of the chapel and of the community that use it. There will be information, stories and pictures gathered from past and present members of the Church and Community, and opportunities for ideas and comments to be added by visitors as they pass through. There may be light refreshments available periodically through the times that the church is open.
There will also be a Harvest Festival service starting at 2.30pm on Sunday 30 September, followed by an auction of harvest produce. All are welcome.
