Carmarthenshire Theatres Decides to Host Online Shows

Carmarthenshire Theatres remains closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and government guideline, so instead have unveiled a virtual programme of winter shows and events to keep people entertained at home.
The types of shows that are planned in this virtual online programme from Carmarthenshire Theatres includes live music, plays, audio dramas, children’s theatre and even an art exhibition.
Live Music Online
The Live music starting from Saturday 10th October will be filmed at the Ffwrnes theatre before being streamed on YouTube and will be free to watch, although donations are welcomed.
Art Exhibition Online
The Oriel Ffwrnes Gallery’s latest art exhibition is moving online with the Step Forward’ showcasing a collection of photographs from the gallery’s resident artist and curator, award-winning Welsh painter and photographer, Michele Laugharne Perrott.
The exhibition captures post lockdown moments of local people and will be launched live on Facebook on the 7th October
Theatre Online
An original play This Incredible Life first performed at the Ffwrnes Theatre back in 2016 is going to be made available for a digital audience to enjoy as it streams live on 14th October, however it will also be available to watch on-demand until 28th October.
This Incredible Life is a warm-hearted comedy about stories and storytelling from the pen of BAFTA-award winning writer, Alan Harris.
This compelling play brings together theatre, film, animation and original music to drop audiences into a story that cleverly lifts the spirits and warm the heart.
Children’s Events Online
For Kids aged 11 upwards – The Atlantis Project is a new audio drama which uncovers the effects of climate change on culture through the adventurous and heart-warming story of Evie and Deean.

For Kids 2 to 9 years old – The Three First Drops is a brand-new play performed by Taking Flight Theatre which is going to be shown live over Zoom.

Storytelling Online
An adaptation of ‘Farewell Innocence’ by Llanelli author, William Glynne-Jones will be available online for everyone to enjoy. This version of the novel depicts life in the fictional town of Abermôr and the daily grind of a tin works and will be performed across several episodes by Alun Gibbard.
Backstage Tours Online
Calling all theatre enthusiasts – You are going to get a unique chance to take a backstage tour of the three Carmarthenshire Theatres, The Ffwrnes in Llanelli, The Lyric in Carmarthen and The Miners’ in Ammanford and all from the comfort of your own home with a series of streamed videos exploring the buildings.
All performances will be available to watch on-demand for a short period following their initial release and if you don’t have internet access then you will be able to hire some of these performance from your local library in Carmarthenshire later on this year.
