Pendine Beach in Carmarthenshire is a famous beach, as it where the first world land speed record attempt was made by Malcolm Campbell on September 25, 1924.
The beach is 6 ¼ miles long and is mainly sand with a few rock pools and small caves. It is worth noting that the MOD restrict use of sections of the beach between 7am and 4pm most days, by placing a red flag and warning signs up and you are not allowed to use any metal detectors on this beach.
From around the middle of July until the start of September this beach does have lifeguards between 10am and 5pm and they always advise which is the safer part to swim each day. There is a pay and display car park next to the beach.
During the months, May to September there are restrictions on taking your dog onto the beach between the Beach Hotel and the Beach café area. There are good facilities in Pendine village including toilets, coffee shop, restaurant, beach shops and awesome ice cream shop!
