Back to School Checklist

With not long left of school holidays you might be starting to stress about if you have everything for your little one, to help we have put together a Handy Back To School Checklist

To make your life easier here is a handy little checklist of things you will need:

  • School Uniform – (we always buy 5 of everything, one for each day so we are only washing on the weekend but others only buy 3 of everything and wash mid-week, it totally depends on your budget)
  • Trousers/ skirts or Pinafores
  • Polo Shirts / Shirts (which ever your school requires)
  • Jumpers / Cardigans
  • Socks / Tights
  • Warm Jacket
  • School Shoes
  • School Tie (if the school requires)
  • School Bag (Younger children don’t always need)
  • School Book Bag (Older children don’t always need, check with school)
  • Lunch box and Bottle (unless your child is having school dinners)
  • P.E Kit (Most schools have their own designs you must buy, you can get this from the same place that you get the branded jumpers from)
  • P.E Bag
  • Trainers / Pumps
  • Pencil Case and Stationary
  • Scientific Calculator (for children in Secondary School and they usually want you to buy the CasioFX-85GTPLUS one which comes in Black, Blue or Pink – Although this model has just been upgraded to Casio FX-85GTX so either would be fine)
  • Dictionary
  • Welsh Dictionary
  • French Dictionary (for children in Secondary School)
  • TOGS / Football Boots (For Boys in Secondary School, sometimes the girls need them but not in all schools)
  • You might also want to get a purse / wallet if your child has to take lunch money each day as it easily gets lost in their bag when loose!

And please remember, when it comes to your Back to School Checklist, there’s no need to feel pressured to buy new shoes, jackets, or uniforms if last year’s still fit. Many parents face this pressure, but rest assured, your child won’t be the only one returning in September with the same items. You can always replace them later in the year when they wear out or become too small!

As another way to plan ahead and ease into the back-to-school routine, consider creating an After School Routine Clock. This simple tool can help bring structure and calm to your afternoons, making the transition smoother for both you and your child. Check out our guide on how to Make your own After School Routine Clock and get prepped for a more organised school year.
