How your Family Can Take Part in 30 Days Wild

30 Days Wild is The Wildlife Trusts’ joyful summer challenge, inviting families across the UK to do one wild thing every day throughout June. It’s all about stepping outside, tuning into nature and making space for small moments of wild joy.
Your “wild” can be as simple as cloud-spotting in the garden, choosing a colour and hunting for it in the hedgerows, or giving a big leafy tree the hug it clearly deserves. There’s no right or wrong way to take part, it’s just the perfect chance to slow down, reconnect and create a trail of nature filled memories along the way
Whether you’re completely new to the idea or just curious about how to get started, this guide explains exactly what 30 Days Wild is all about and how your family can sign up to join in this year’s adventure.

Ideas of Random Acts of Wildness
Inside your free wallchart, you’ll find plenty of inspiration for simple, nature-filled activities your family can enjoy each day in June. Some are quick and playful, like following a bumblebee or sketching something you spot on a walk. Others invite a bit more time, like watching the sunset together or walking barefoot on grass to really feel grounded. The wallchart also doubles as a tracker, so you can jot down what you plan to do each day and tick it off once it’s done, we think it’s perfect for keeping kids motivated and giving a sense of achievement along the way.
There’s something to suit every age and energy level, and that flexibility is part of the fun.
In fact, previous participants have said their favourite Random Acts of Wildness included listening to birdsong, eating outside, planting wildflowers, and going on bug hunts. These little moments not only create happy memories, but also spark curiosity and a deeper connection to the world around you.
Throughout June, Wildlife Trusts across the UK also host family-friendly events to help people get closer to nature. Many of these are completely free, and there’s also a great selection of online activities to join in from home. You can find full listings on the Wildlife Trust website.

If it feels easier, you can follow the optional weekly themes to shape your month of wildness. You might do one activity a day, pick a few each week, or just dip in when it suits you, there’s really no set way to take part.
Here’s a glimpse of some weekly inspiration:
- Week One: Help wildlife where you live – Start by choosing activities that support your local wildlife, from feeding the birds to planting bee-friendly flowers.
- Week Two: Move like wildlife – Get outside and move your body in nature. Try nature-inspired yoga, a scavenger hunt or simply explore a new green space.
- Week Three: Learn about wildlife – Spend some time spotting, naming and researching local creatures. What will you discover?
- Week Four: Get creative with nature – Use natural materials to create something, write a story, build a sculpture or paint your own wildlife masterpiece.
