South Wales Miners Museum

The South Wales Miners’ Museum was the first mining Museum in Wales officially opened in 1976.

The Museum is located within the beautiful Afan Valley six miles from the town of Port Talbot and is one of the many attractions to be found within the Afan Forest Park. The Museum is a registered charity and run by volunteers dedicated to promoting Industrial Heritage in the Afan Valley.

Journey back I’m time and explore the working life of a miner and the hardship that both adults and children had to endure. The Museum is made up of both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Outdoor exhibits include a Blacksmith Shop, Lamp Room and an Engine House
