Set in the greenery of Pembrokeshire Castell Henllys is the only place you can walk among Iron Age roundhouse just like they would have stood all those 2000 years ago.

With the help of archaeologists and other experts these roundhouses have been rebuilt on the original Iron Age foundations, using the same kind of materials making this an authentic Iron Age experience for your family to visit and enjoy.  

Aside from walking among the roundhouses, you can stroll along the leafy woodland and riverside paths which includes the sensory walk on the barefoot trail.

You will be able to enjoy the Visitor centre, and try out the interactive exhibitions as well as pop into the gift shop and café. There are often family friendly events and workshops that take place at Castell Henllys with many being listed on our Whats On Page.

Dogs are allowed on leads, and you can also download a self-guided trail map from their website before you visit

Visiting in 2021

Due to restrictions in place for visiting in 2021, you will need to advance book you’re a three hour time slot and you will be able to explore all of the outdoor areas of Castell Henllys Iron Age Village, including our woodland and Barefoot Trail. In the village itself, a friendly member of our tribe will tell you all about life in the Iron Age. You will also be allocated a time slot upon your arrival to take part in an outdoor crafty activity or to watch an outdoor demonstration of an ancient craft.

If you want even more of an adventure, then you can purchase our self-led activity ‘Warrior Quest’ where there are riddles to solve and challenges to complete with a prize for those who succeed!

You must advance book your time slot and you can arrive anytime during your 3 hour slot, but you must vacate the site by the end of your slot.
