Families can Enjoy New Eco Explorer Village at Scolton Manor Park

From June this year (2021) families visiting the well-loved Scolton Manor Park in Pembrokeshire will be able to have even more fun as several new attractions will be unveiled including an Eco-Explorer Village.

Just in time for the kids Summer school holidays, the popular Scolton Manor Park, north of Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire is getting some new features.

One of the new features that we are looking forward to taking the kids to is the new eco-explorer village. It is made up of a 1.2km woodland cycle track, an outdoor pirate ship play area and a dedicated railway attraction complete with steam train locomotive ‘Margaret’ and ‘Scolton Express’ play train.

Our kids love playing outdoors and engaging with nature, so this sounds like a fab add on to our visits to Scolton Manor.

The eco-explorer village is being funded by a £50,000 grant from the Landfill Disposals Tax Community Scheme and £25,000 grant from Community Facilities Programme from the Welsh Government in partnership with the Pembrokeshire Beekeepers’ Association.

When talking about the new attractions due to open this summer, the manager of Scolton Manor Park, Mark Thomas said the team were looking forward to showing visitors the new attractions and that “We’re delighted with our new facilities and believe they will perfectly complement the attractions we have here already at Scolton,”

He went onto say “The many and varied attractions at Scolton enhance its role as a community facility while providing a wide range of countryside experiences at a lower cost,”

Cllr Paul Miller, Cabinet Member for Economy, Tourism, Culture and Leisure, said the village is perfect for children of all ages “Children love playing outside and we want to inspire them through their play to not only find out more about biodiversity and the environment but also how to care for it,”

“As well as eco-explorer areas, games and activities there will be fun tips on how they can reuse, reduce and recycle more and protect the environment.”

Currently there is a fun adventure play area for little ones and older kids which has slides, super swings, a spinning climbing web, twisters and a 30 metre zip wire.

And for the less adventurous there is a wooden playground and sensory outdoor musical play area that really does offer a truly magical musical experience with instruments such as a xylophone, chain rattle, spiral scraper, chimes, paddle pipes and drainpipe drums.

So, this new eco-explorer village is going to be an add onto what is already a great play to take the family for a fun day out in West Wales. Visit our Places to Go Page for Scolton Manor to find out all the location and opening times info that you need.
