Due to Storm Darragh this Event has been POSTPONED – New date will be released soon

Prepare to be dazzled at the Cardigan Giant Lantern Parade, a spectacular family-friendly event taking place on Friday 6th December. This much-loved annual tradition, organised by Small World Theatre, promises a magical evening filled with lanterns, live entertainment, and festive cheer.

The event begins at 6pm at Small World Theatre, where participants can collect their lanterns and have carrying sticks fitted. At 6.45pm, attendees will be guided to the venue’s exits to light their lantern candles, ready for the parade.

The parade officially sets off at 7pm, weaving its way from Pendre to Prince Charles Quay. Thanks to dedicated volunteer marshals and support from the Barley Saturday Committee, there will be safety barriers along the pavements this year, ensuring a secure and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The evening concludes in spectacular style at the Quayside, where attendees can enjoy a breathtaking low-noise firework display alongside an exhilarating fire juggling performance. This year’s event is part of Cardigan’s exciting new Festival of Light, adding an extra festive glow to the town.

For those travelling from Aberaeron, a free Richard’s Bros. bus service is available to help you join the festivities. Please visit the organiser’s website for timetable details.

There will be a road closure in place from 6.30pm to 9pm, including Cardigan High Street and the old bridge by the Castle. Traffic will be redirected via the bypass and northern town entry. All public car parks will remain open, with regular parking fees applying.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, many shops will stay open during the event, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants welcoming visitors afterwards. For a full list of activities, check out the winter calendar on Creative Cardigan’s website.

The Principality Cardigan Agency will also be open during the parade, offering festive nibbles and great company as you watch the dazzling procession.
