Spooky Mountain at The Silver Mountain Experience

If you’re after something a bit different this October half-term, Spooky Mountain at The Silver Mountain Experience might be just the thing. Running from 27th to 31st October, this Halloween event combines interactive tours, Welsh folklore, and plenty of family-friendly fun without the terror. It’s designed to make kids smile rather than scream, with playful creatures, silly scares, and costumed actors bringing the whole experience to life.

Tickets are £20 per person (children aged 3–15, under-3s go free), and pre-booking through the Silver Mountain Experience website is required to guarantee entry.

What happens at Spooky Mountain

Four interactive Halloween scenes

The main event is a guided walkthrough lasting around an hour in total, featuring four different scenes brought to life by costumed actors. It’s recommended for children aged 5 and up due to dark spaces, spooky characters, and special effects, though younger visitors are welcome if parents think they’ll manage. The surface attractions and trails are suitable for all ages.

The Count’s House

Meet a friendly vampire with more charm than fright (think Hotel Transylvania vibes). The Count’s home is full of surprises, from shadowy barrel rooms to his very own spooky tomb. Expect silly tricks, dramatic moments, and plenty of laughs.

The Enchanted Forest

Follow Tegli the fairy through twinkling lights and hidden magic as she shares ancient Welsh tales of the Tylwyth Teg. Children can join in with spells, try fairy dances, and help unlock the secrets of this magical woodland.

The Witch’s Potion Lab

Agnes the witch needs help finishing her most important potion of the year. She’s a bit forgetful and often misplaces her ingredients, so young visitors will need to lend a hand. Expect cackling laughs, silly jokes, and magical surprises.

Ghost Hunter Live

Step into the spotlight with Jack, the excitable host of a brand-new ghost-hunting show. Set in the old mine workshop, this interactive experience invites families to uncover curious secrets from the past and join in with a fun ghost hunt. Watch out, Jack might have a ghostly secret of his own.

Your ticket covers more than just the guided tour. Families can also enjoy:

• The Witch’s Potion Trail – Hunt for magical ingredients across the site
• The Minecraft Trail – Minecraft-themed activities running throughout Halloween, including a quest to help Steve find his missing ore blocks and a custom-built digital recreation of the mine at the on-site gaming station

Planning your visit to Spooky Mountain

The Silver Mountain Experience is based in Aberystwyth, making it a good option for families in West Wales or those visiting the coast during half-term. With so much included in the ticket price, it’s worth setting aside a few hours to make the most of everything on offer.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over on all tours. Given the interactive nature of the event, it’s best suited to families with children who enjoy joining in and don’t mind a few gentle scares. If your little ones are sensitive to dark spaces or costumed characters, the surface attractions and trails might be a better starting point.
