Tree Tops Trail in St Florence

Tree Tops Trail in St Florence is part of Heatherton World of Activities near Tenby, and it’s one of the best high ropes courses in Pembrokeshire. There’s a course to suit every age, from Junior Tree Tops for younger climbers right through to Senior Tree Tops for older thrill-seekers, plus a standalone zip line and a Powerfan freefall challenge if you fancy something extra.

Every course uses a continuous wire system, so there’s no clipping on and off between obstacles, and each session starts with a safety briefing and training run from an instructor. Below is what each part of Tree Tops Trail in St Florence actually involves, so you can work out which one suits your family best.

Senior Tree Tops Trail

This is the big one, twenty-nine challenges including the Trapeze Assault, X-Trail and Hanging Stirrups, four zip lines, and a top run of 165 metres. The highest platform sits at 9.5m and the longest bridge stretches 11m, so it’s a proper physical and mental challenge that takes around two hours to complete.

  • Suitable for: Age 10+, minimum height 1.4m
  • Weight limit: 30kg to 120kg
  • Other requirements: Max waist size 110cm, max thigh diameter 70cm, must be able to see 85m
  • Supervision: Under-16s need an adult (18+) supervising, one adult per four under-16s
  • Price: £34 per person

Junior Tree Tops Trail

A scaled down version built for younger climbers, with sixteen obstacles including a Rope Traverse, Balance Beam and Skateboard and Surfboard Cross, finishing on a 50m zip wire. The highest platform is 3.5m and the longest bridge is 6.1m, and the whole thing takes about thirty minutes.

  • Suitable for: Age 5+, minimum height 1.1m
  • Weight limit: Up to 120kg
  • Supervision: An adult must supervise from the ground at all times, one adult per six children
  • Price: £16.50 per person

Zip Line Challenge

If you just fancy the thrill of the zip line without the full course, you can do this one on its own, soaring 165 metres either solo or side by side with a friend. It’s a good option if you’re not sure about tackling the whole Senior or Junior trail and want to test the water first.

  • Suitable for: Age 8+, minimum height 1.1m
  • Weight limit: Up to 120kg
  • Price: £12.50 per person or 3 Heatherton credits
  • Note: Runs at set times around Tree Tops sessions, weather dependent

Powerfan Challenge

This is the freefall challenge, climbing a 12 metre platform and taking a leap of faith into thin air. It’s a proper test of nerve and works well as a one-off extra alongside the main trail.

  • Suitable for: Age 8+, minimum height 1.1m
  • Weight limit: Up to 120kg
  • Price: £12.50 per person or 3 Heatherton credits
  • Note: Runs at set times around Tree Tops sessions, weather dependent
