
Get ready for a magical day out at the Tenby Christmas Lights Switch On, a family-friendly event packed with festive fun and excitement in the heart of Tudor Square, Tenby. Organised by Tenby Town Council, this delightful celebration is completely free and promises something for everyone.
The festivities kick off at 9.30am with the Tenby & District Lions Christmas Charity Market, offering a variety of stalls that are sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. Running until 6pm, this market is the perfect place to find unique gifts and festive treats.
Starting at 10.30am, enjoy the sounds of the Steve Briers Disco Roadshow, setting a lively tone for the day. At 11am, the Tenby Round Table Santa Run adds a dash of excitement, with participants donning festive attire for a good cause.
The afternoon is packed with entertainment, beginning at 1pm with dance displays by the talented Kelly Williams School of Dance. They’ll perform again at 3pm for another dazzling showcase. At 1.30pm, enjoy Christmas carols and songs led by the Salvation Army Band and Community Band, followed by live music from Richard Henton, a guitar vocalist, at 2pm. At 3pm, Samantha Skyrme-Blackhall takes the stage with her powerful vocals.
The day’s highlight starts at 4pm when Tenby Lifeboats RNLI embark on a mission to bring Father Christmas ashore from a secret location. By 4.45pm, Father Christmas will arrive in Tudor Square, just in time for the Mayor to officially switch on the Christmas lights, illuminating the town in festive glory.
After the lights switch-on, Father Christmas will be escorted by Tenby Fire Station to St Mary’s Church House, where he’ll settle into his grotto with the help of the Tenby & District Lions. Kids will have the chance to meet him and share their Christmas wishes, rounding off a truly magical day.
