Jungle Escape Room

Families after something a bit different from the usual days out will love the Jungle Escape Room at Plantasia in Swansea. Rather than being stuck in one small room, this adventure takes place across the entire Tropical Zoo, so you’re genuinely exploring a jungle while you solve clues and complete challenges.

Developed with The Escape Game Swansea, it’s built to be one of the biggest immersive escape experiences around. Teams of 2 to 8 have 60 minutes to complete their mission, whether that’s proving a rare frog species still exists before loggers move in, or tracking down poachers hiding out in the jungle. It’s brilliant for birthdays, family days out, or just fancying a proper challenge together as a team.

About Plantasia

Plantasia Swansea is a tropical rainforest zoo inside a glass pyramid at Parc Tawe, home to over 50 species and now this jungle escape room too. It’s less than a ten minute walk from both Swansea bus and train stations, so it’s easy to get to without a car, and bike racks are available at Parc Tawe if you’re cycling in. If you are driving down, then car parking at Parc Tawe is free for up to two hours, and you can extend that to four hours by registering your number plate on the tablet in the gift shop before your initial two hours run out.

Pricing and Booking

A Jungle Escape session costs £99 per group, whichever game you choose, and covers between 2 and 8 players, so it works out great value for a bigger family group or a few friends together. Booking is done online through the Plantasia website, and it’s worth booking ahead as slots are limited. Arrive at least 15 minutes before your booked slot to get settled before the clock starts.

General admission to the zoo itself is separate and has no time limit, so some families combine both for a full day out. Just remember your escape room booking is for a fixed session time, so you’ll want to plan your zoo browsing around that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to be fit to take part?

Rainforest Run covers a fair distance across the whole zoo, so it helps to be reasonably mobile. Poachers' Lair takes place in one smaller, confined area, so it's a gentler option if covering ground isn't easy for anyone in your group.

Will we be playing with other people we don't know?

No. Whichever game you book, it's just your own group taking part, nobody else joins you.

Can we get food and drink there?

Yes, the Canopy Cafe is open daily until 4pm, and until 8pm on Fridays, serving pizza, sandwiches, snacks and drinks, handy if you're doing a Friday evening Rainforest Run session.

Is the rest of the zoo open while we play?

For Rainforest Run, no, this game runs after the zoo has closed to general visitors, so you get the whole venue to yourselves. For Poachers' Lair, yes, the zoo stays open to the public, but your game takes place in an area that's off limits to everyone else.

What happens if we don't finish in time?

There's no penalty for not completing the mission, you simply reach the end of your 60 minutes and finish up wherever you've got to. It's all part of the fun rather than a test to pass or fail.
