Plantasia Swansea Rainforest Zoo

Plantasia Swansea is a tropical rainforest zoo set inside a glass pyramid hothouse at Parc Tawe in Swansea city centre, and one of the most unique family attractions in South Wales. With over 50 species of animals, a stunning collection of tropical plants, augmented reality experiences and a jungle escape room, there is genuinely loads to fill a full day.

The zoo takes you on a journey through different climate zones, from a below ground creepy crawly zone to the forest floor, arid zone, canopy and Fort Crox where you come face to face with Caiman crocodiles. Along the way you will meet meerkats, a 12ft Burmese python, Asian leopard cats, green iguanas, axolotls, macaws, chameleons, poison dart frogs and much more. The Vital Venoms and Practical Poisons room and the Giants of the Past augmented reality experience are both included free with general admission. A free Magic Memories photo kiosk lets you take home six digital photos of yourself immersed in jungle scenes.

For those wanting an extra challenge, the Jungle Escape room is a large scale 60 minute escape experience developed in partnership with The Escape Game Swansea. Teams of 2 to 8 choose between two games, both priced at £99 per group regardless of size. Rainforest Run runs on Friday evenings after the zoo closes to the public, so your team has the entire tropical zoo venue to explore as part of the experience. Poachers Lair runs at weekends during the day in a dedicated area that is off-limits to general visitors, so the rest of the zoo remains open around you. Both games are suitable for ages 12 and over, with under 16s needing to be accompanied by an adult.

The Canopy Café serves cold drinks, sandwiches, snacks and ice cream daily. You can check their food hygiene rating before you visit using the button on this page. A gift shop with animal themed toys and adoption packages is also on site.

Plantasia is less than a ten minute walk from both Swansea bus and train stations, making it easy to get to without a car. If you are cycling, bike racks are available at Parc Tawe to secure your bike. Car parking at Parc Tawe is free for up to two hours, extendable to four hours by registering your number plate on the tablet in the gift shop before your initial two hours expires.

Birthday packages are available. No time limit on general admission visits.
