The British Bird of Prey Centre

The British Bird of Prey Centre is the only UK attraction dedicated entirely to native British birds of prey, home to over 20 species including tawny owls, gyrfalcons, merlins, snowy owls, red kites, golden eagles, goshawks, barn owls, peregrines, ravens and the white-tailed sea eagle, among others. Three flying shows run daily, with owls gliding past at eye level, red kites sweeping overhead and falcons powering through the arena in free flight.

Between shows, explore the aviaries, take on the games in the Indoor Interactive Activity Centre, let the kids loose in the outdoor play area, or join a 30 minute group flying experience for the chance to have a bird fly straight to your glove. There’s also a café on site for drinks, snacks and light meals, and the whole site is flat and step free, so it’s easy to get around with a wheelchair or buggy.

About The British Bird of Prey Centre

The British Bird of Prey Centre moved to its own dedicated site at the end of 2025, having previously been based at the National Botanic Garden of Wales. It’s now 4 miles from Carmarthen on the road to Kidwelly, just outside Idole.

FAQs

What time are the flying shows?

There are three flying shows daily, at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, each lasting around 30 minutes, with different birds featured in each one. All three are included in your admission ticket.

Are dogs allowed?

No, dogs and other animals aren't permitted at the Centre, though assistance dogs are welcome if you contact the team in advance.

Is the site accessible?

Yes, the entire site is flat and step free, making it easy for wheelchairs and buggies to get around. There are also disabled and dementia friendly toilets, baby changing facilities, and quiet areas if you need time out.

What food is available?

There's a café on site serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and cakes, plus snacks in the shop. You're also welcome to bring your own picnic.
