Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre is a free visitor centre in New Quay, dedicated to the conservation and education of the region’s marine wildlife since 1996. Housed in a heritage building on the slipway next to the RNLI lifeboat station, it’s the place to learn about the Cardigan Bay “Big 3”, bottlenose dolphins, harbour porpoises and Atlantic grey seals, alongside seasonal visitors like sunfish, basking sharks and the elusive leatherback turtle.
Moody Calf Play Barn and Trampoline Park is a fantastic all-weather family destination set in the rolling Ceredigion countryside at Moody Meadows. With both an indoor and outdoor soft play barn and a separate indoor trampoline park on site, it genuinely has something for every age in the family, and is open to the public, not just those staying at the campsite.
Fantasy Farm Park in Llanrhystud is a working farm with plenty to keep the whole family busy. In the Animal Barn you can meet horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, alpacas, ferrets and pigs, with hands-on animal handling year round and seasonal lamb feeding sessions in spring.
The Magic of Life Butterfly House in Cwm Rheidol, near Aberystwyth, is a lush indoor tropical house where you can walk among hundreds of free-flying butterflies from around the world. Alongside the butterflies, you’ll spot giant caterpillars, stick insects, mantids and huge breeding beetles, plus a tropical coral reef display home to Bumblebee Dart Frogs and Copperband Butterflyfish.
Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park sits on a headland in Gwbert, just 200 metres from Cardigan Island nature reserve, with sweeping views over the Teifi Estuary and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. On this family-run working farm you can meet sheep, pigs, cows, goats, chickens, ponies, donkeys, guinea pigs, rabbits, llamas and alpacas, feeding some of them with food bought from the entrance desk.
Borth Animalarium is a small rescue sanctuary rather than a traditional zoo, where you can meet animals with their own stories and personalities and take things at your own pace. Tickets are available on arrival, so there’s no need to book ahead for general admission.
